SM Cares Promotes Biking and Sustainability for Eco- Friendly Cities [Press Release]

SM malls work closely with cities and government agencies in championing bike-friendly communities by making fun bike activities, road safety clinics and bike facilities accessible to Filipinos.

SM Padyak Pasay is a kick-off Pasay City’s Foundation Week celebration: Pasayahin 2023. This cycling event aims to promote community engagement, health, and sustainability, contributing to the vibrant spirit of Pasay City. In partnership with SM Cares, SM by the BAY, SM Prime, and JCI Manileña.

About the Bike Clinic for the Youth

A bike eco-tour featuring SM malls and offices participated by youths aged 12 to 18 y/o. Aimed to teach our future leaders to recognize and follow bike safety guidelines on the road, and teach them about sustainability practices. 

About SM’s Bike-Friendly Projects

As a Mall for All, we have been privileged to play a part in making biking more accessible and enjoyable for commuters. Across all SM Supermalls, there are now more than 500 bike racks and more than 80 repair stations nationwide. SM has also put up 19.75 km of dedicated and shared bike lanes at the SM Mall of Asia and SM Seaside Cebu. 2.1-hectare bike trails in SM Pulilan, SM Seaside, and SM Batangas for recreation, and Bike-and-dine facilities in several malls.

We are proud that SM Mall of Asia was recognized in the 2023 Mobility Awards for getting a Silver level as the Most Bicycle-Friendly Large Establishment. The Mall of Asia Complex alone boasts of 18 km worth of bike lanes, 100 bike parking slots, and we remain committed to provide bike facilities for the benefit of our customers across our SM Prime properties.

SM also collaborates with LGUs in programs and infrastructure and continue to partner with the DOTr in recognizing their efforts through the Bike Lane Awards, now on its third year. This year, the Awards will be done for the first time outside of Metro Manila, hosted by SM City Iloilo.
