2011 Coco Carnival Queen

The candidates for the 2011 Coco Carnival Queen were presented on the day of the Street Dancing Competition. They were paraded on Rizal Avenue ahead of the Floats and the Street Dancers. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get good pictures of them because I had to struggle behind some people just to get pictures.

Please don't be surprise if the pictures are just like the one above. I had to stretch out my arm just to get them. Honestly, I'm kinda envious of those people with big cameras sitting on a stand at the other side of the lane. I believe they were media photographers.

The candidates paraded on the other lane of Rizal Avenue and were individually introduced in-front of the main stage. I'm not sure if they were asked to do something else because it was kinda hard to see from my location.

After their brief moment in-front of the main stage, they continued on and strolled pass everyone else. Come to think of it, I think I was on the wrong lane of Rizal Avenue. Nothing seems to happen on my lane of Rizal Avenue.

Here are the pictures. Just click on the pictures to view a larger version. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Aw! The female ROTC officer blocked a portion of the shot. One of the candidates got lost in-front of her. For some reason, the candidates stopped parading and just walked pass everyone. I guess the parade ends in-front of the main stage. Too bad for those waiting on the other lane. LOL!

They're kinda walking too fast for my camera but I did get a nice picture of that person in the red shirt. The Red Cross Tent was just in-front of us.

Another wasted shot. I was aiming for Candidate Number 7 but this person suddenly walked in-front of the candidate. Please note that this were shot with an out stretched arm while zooming in and out.

I took this shot with my arms raised way up high because of the umbrellas. If you are at the back then there is no way for you to see everything with all of those umbrellas.

It looked like something went wrong. You can see it from this Coco Carnival Queen candidate's face. Must be those coconuts.

Looks like something got stuck! I wonder what it could be?

That looks itchy! Covered the front but forgot to cover the back, eh?

Here we see candidates number 8 and 9. I guess those gowns were made from coconut and they look kinda heavy too. It looked like the heat were getting to them already. I can't blame them, it was a very hot day that day.

As you can see, Red Cross volunteers were watching them with great interest as they walk pass their tent. Well, they do have a great view of everything from there.

Just like what I've said above, the parade ends in-front of the main stage. The other lane is where they fix themselves up. The same happened with the Street Dancing Competition. They just stop after the main stage and walk like they're going home. There was no-point watching on the other lane.

By the way, it seems that Congresswoman Ivy Arago's face is everywhere. Just look at the pictures above. She has banners, streamers and posters everywhere. If it wasn't for the festive air of the Cocofest Celebration then it would look like it's an Election Campaign Rally or something to that effect. Politicians and their narcissistic tendencies. LOL!

Anyway, Happy Fiesta everyone!
